on ms word 2007:
how to add the insert frame command

I recently reformatted my laptop. Since my brother, Raymond, was the previous owner of my laptop, he had all the installers and drivers of most of my PC’s programs. Consequently, I asked him to install the basic ones just to get it up and running.
Upon my laptop’s return, I was delighted to find out that he installed the latest version of Microsoft Office – 2007. Since I’m a frequent user of Microsoft Office Word, I immediately scrutinized it. To my dismay, I could not find the most important feature of Word (for me anyway) in the menu – the insert new frame.
I tried typing “insert frame”, “new frame”, and the like on the Word Help (simply press F1 on Microsoft Office Word to view this) but it kept returning unrelated search results. Not daunted, I browsed over the net and found this very useful downloadable excel sheet – Locations of Microsoft Office Word 2003 commands in Microsoft Office Word 2007.
Browsing over it, I found out that the “Toolbars (Frames)” have been removed from the 2007 version. To find and/or add the Frames toolbar commands on the menu, go to:
Office Button > Word Options > Customize > All Commands > Frames

You can view other related instructions by going to the Frames Toolbar sheet of that file. Below are other tips for using that workbook:
- The order of the worksheets matches the order of the default user interface (UI). If you prefer, rearrange the worksheets so that the menus and toolbars that you use most often are on the leftmost side of the workbook.
- The names of the worksheet tabs match the menu and toolbar names in Word 2003.
- To search for a specific command in this workbook, do one of the following:
- In Excel 2003, on the Edit menu, click Find.
- In Excel 2007, on the Home tab, in the Editing group, click Find & Select, and then click Find.
- In Excel 2003, on the Edit menu, click Find.
Voila! You can now add frames. Hope this blog post makes your MS Office 2003 – 2007 transition easier!
