Swimming In Public!

Written on Monday, 30 of January, 2012 at 9:58 pm

You know, one of the dreams I’ve had since I was young was a rooftop pool, and well, our new house has a big rooftop that can fit an average sized pool. I’m starting to save up for one and I’m looking up pentair pool parts to give me an idea on how much I should save up for when the installation starts, not to mention the maintenance.

I know, pools are considered to be a luxury, but I like the comfort of being able to swim on my own without being conscious of how people would react to seeing me on my swimwear. I tend to get self conscious when I’m swimming out in public, and, well, I can’t exactly take laps when I swim and am worried about what others think.

You see, I’m suffering from mild scoliosis, and my doctor highly recommends me to swim a lot since it would be helpful for my spine.

I should get this pool installed as soon as possible. If you want to swim, just holler and I’ll let you know when I’m free and when you can swim! :)

For mom

Written on Sunday, 22 of January, 2012 at 2:57 pm

Since my list for potential gifts for my mom ran out last christmas, I have to look for gifts for moms this early. I don’t exactly know what to get my mom for mother’s day yet, and I need your help, my dearest readers.

I have no idea what to get her, and it’s all up to you guys! If you must know, her favourite colour is purple, and she loves sour food. I just want to repay her for all of the amazing things she did for me and my siblings, and I guess the only way I can show that to her is through presents, aside from contributing to our house bills, haha!

What kind of presents did you give your mom this Christmas? Please, share it with me so I can get some ideas! I would greatly appreciate it. The comments section of this post is free for all, and I’ll make sure I read them all and put them into consideration. Thanks a lot!

Mom’s Present

Written on Monday, 7 of November, 2011 at 2:31 am

Since it’s the christmas season, I’ve began to worry about what presents I should get for certain people in my life.

I have had most of them figured out, but one of the things I haven’t settled for yet would be possible christmas gifts for mom. I already got her a wallet for her birthday (which I’m happy to see that she uses everyday), and that’s the only thing I put on the list I made whenever I notice that people need or want certain things…

I’d get her shoes, but she has these specific types of shoes that she can’t wear. She has wide toes, so I don’t think getting her just any shoe would work. I don’t want to give her gift certificates either. I want to give her something with a personal touch, something she knows I’ve thought of so hard to get / achieve / give to her. I’m really running out of ideas, though.

Do you have any suggestions? What kind of presents are you getting your parents this year?

Oh, Brother!

Written on Saturday, 5 of November, 2011 at 2:26 pm

I just recently found out that my brother will become a doctor soon. If that actually happens that means he will be getting his fourth degree. Dude, I mean, fourth degree, really? How does one person become a fan of studying something so much to reach four degrees in that field? I know my attention span can’t handle it. My brother just earned even more respect from me. Seriously.

I want to get him something special as a form of congratulating him on his well deserved degrees. He has always been fond of pretty watches and he spends about a third of his salary to buy new watches, so I decided on buying him one of those michael kors watches. I still haven’t decided on which one to buy yet though.

Do you guys have any specific idea on which one I should get for him? So far all I’ve narrowed down from his owned watches would be that most of them are black, and I don’t really think that’s much to go by. Haha! A little help, please?

Thinking

Written on Sunday, 2 of October, 2011 at 1:27 pm

I kind of am considering looking for Travel Jobs. I don’t know, really. I don’t intend to quit my current job, but I guess it’s nice to know that you can still change your mind whenever you want to and that you’re not trapped inside this box and you can’t get out.

That’s kind of the way I feel right now, like everything else is planned out for me.

Sorry for the emotional post, but it’s just my way of venting out things I can’t normally tell people. I want to travel the world so I can visit my sister someday. I want to have a job where I get to see all the diverse cultures and appreciate each and every one of them.

On the list of places I want to go to, though, I’d definitely go to New York to see my sister first. She just left a while ago and I already miss her. Not to mention the free haircuts! Hahaha.

Be prepared, not scared!

Written on Monday, 19 of September, 2011 at 4:20 am

There’s nothing better than being prepared. As the old and very famous saying goes, prevention is better than cure. And in the case of tornadoes and the like, I’m afraid I’m going to have to agree with the person who came up with those words of wisdom.

We don’t know what the future holds. One day, Japan gets a high magnitude earthquake, the next day, Singapore gets a tsunami. A lot of people ended up losing a lot of their assets and burying themselves in debts because they weren’t responsible enough to prepare for situations like that.

You know way back in the world war times when bomb shelters were common? I strongly recommend people to get tornado shelters so they know that they always have a backup plan.

Are there any tips that you would recommend a person preparing for these common disasters? I’d recommend keeping the fragile items inside the shelter to a minimum. As much as possible take away glass and ceramic items. They’re more trouble than they’re worth in times of disaster.

Such a stressful day

Written on Sunday, 28 of August, 2011 at 1:16 am

Just how stupid can anyone get right? Yeah, I was actually referring to myself. Earlier today I accidentally drove into a garbage truck. The worst part is, the truck was parked. I was so much in a hurry to get to work today that I was really out of focus. You see I forgot that I have a brunch meeting with an important client and the stupid Outlook calendar did not remind me at all. I was so stressed with everything that I took for granted that there might be something behind my car. And so there it was, I crashed into a parked truck while it was picking up my trash.

Fortunately the truck triver was kind enough not to shout at me and we agreed to meet tomorrow to talk about the damages. My car had damage but I ruined the side door of the truck. I am currently working on the auto estimating right now to submit to insurance. As for my client, it turned out well, even though I looked like a drunk fool in the meeting.

Phases

Written on Saturday, 13 of August, 2011 at 11:44 am

I think everyone of us has gone through all of these weird phases in our lives.

I, for one, had an emo phase and a hip hop phase. I also had a phase where I cried my heart out on the world wide web for any other person to see and to laugh at, it was embarrassing, and I read that blog still, from time to time, and I laugh about it with my friends. Don’t think I’d share it with you guys on this blog though! Never in a million years.

I think I find my brother’s phases hilarious. They’re just so random. He had this ATV phase where there was nothing more important in this world than his ATV. He’d spend months taking part time jobs so he could buy those special RZR XP Accessories. He also had this Apple phase. In fact, he still is in that phase right now. If you enter his room it’s like a freaking apple store.

He has every product they have! I’m not even exaggerating.

It’s fun to look back to who we were before, every once in a while, don’t you think?

Is Technology Really Always Good For Us?

Written on Wednesday, 6 of July, 2011 at 11:43 pm

I have always preferred to do things manually than relying on machines and technology to do it for us.

Take riding cabs, for example. In my office, certain employees have this privilege called “tax shields” where we present receipts of certain categories and we get a chance to have a certain amount from these receipts deducted from the amount taken by the income tax.

The categories that were assigned to me were transportation and communication so naturally, I had to collect receipts from cab fares and purchases from gasoline and telephone companies. Everytime I hail a cab and get dropped off somewhere, I now ask them to give me a receipt.

Most of the cabs nowadays have a receipt printer incorporated with their meters, and more often than not, when I ask for receipts, they tell me that their printer is out of ink.

This is precisely why I prefer doing things manually. They could have written me a receipt instead, you know? I’m starting to think that maybe technology isn’t really always that helpful for us.

The Pros of Playing Games

Written on Sunday, 3 of July, 2011 at 11:39 pm

Have you ever heard of massive multiplayer online role playing games?

I have. I was once addicted to these types of games. The specific game that I spent about ten years of my life playing was Ragnarok. I didn’t play just for the sake of leveling up and getting a lot of gold. I played because I liked the thought of interacting with other people from across the globe, getting to know them and being able to do something with them.
At one point I played too much that I mistook Gold for Cash. My parents began to worry. At first they thought it was just a phase, but I started to ignore the rest of the world and I opted to stay in the house instead of socializing with my friends like any other normal girl would do.
Thanks to that game, I started earning a lot of money and I improved my programming skills. You see, games aren’t too bad if you learn to control yourself.
