I’ve been starting to draw using SAI paint tool at the moment. My common technique would be to draw in between meetings, take a photo (because I don’t have a scanner) and trace the lineart using a line layer and a pen tool.
This isn’t always very convenient since I’d notice that the picture looks a little different from what I intended the drawing to look like after I trace it, so I am currently saving up to get a nice Tablet.
I made an art shop for this online game that I’m playing. Apparently people are willing to pay game currencies to get art for their in game characters, and this will help me a lot in upgrading my gear and buying all the potions that I need!
If you want to try my art, you can comment on what you want drawn in this post, and I’ll see if I can whip up something and if I’m not busy, I might even do it for free! I need practice, anyway.

Six months ago, I bought a netbook, a cheap one. It was one of those China brands with cool specs. Looking at the specs, it was way better than the branded ones. At first the netbook performed great. It booted up quite fast and it played even my 1080p High Definition movies. But then a couple of months after that, it became so sluggish to the point that I did not want to use it anymore. It was either the blue screen of death or the frozen screen.
Since it was still less than a year since I bought it, I decided to bring it back to the store where I purchased it. Unfortunately, no refunds and no replacements too. Well no replacement for other items that is. They replaced my netbook with a brand new one – same model. And so, just like before, I was happy for a month or two. Then as expected, it happened again. I was so sick of the cycle that I gave up and threw my netbook. Actually I gave it to my nephew so basically I threw it away.
So now I learned my lesson. I’ll stick to the branded ones. Though expensive, at least I could have the peace of mind that I never had with the cheap brands. I am now looking into different good brands and looks like the toshiba netbooks
are on the top of my list.

I have always preferred to do things manually than relying on machines and technology to do it for us.
Take riding cabs, for example. In my office, certain employees have this privilege called “tax shields” where we present receipts of certain categories and we get a chance to have a certain amount from these receipts deducted from the amount taken by the income tax.
The categories that were assigned to me were transportation and communication so naturally, I had to collect receipts from cab fares and purchases from gasoline and telephone companies. Everytime I hail a cab and get dropped off somewhere, I now ask them to give me a receipt.
Most of the cabs nowadays have a receipt printer incorporated with their meters, and more often than not, when I ask for receipts, they tell me that their printer is out of ink.
This is precisely why I prefer doing things manually. They could have written me a receipt instead, you know? I’m starting to think that maybe technology isn’t really always that helpful for us.

My little sister is currently in college and apparently custom laptops are the latest trend. Since she is under a BS Computer Science curriculum, naturally, most of them have laptops or family computers of their own, and with them having to bring their laptops to their laboratory classes most of the time, it’s quite hard to determine which person owns a certain laptop if more than one of them has the same model.
My sister made me come with her while she looked for skins and laptop bags, and I can say the designs are quite amusing. I ended up buying a purple skin and a matching bag myself!
I like adding a little touch of personality to my own things. It kind of expresses who I am and what I like in life, not to mention it makes everything even just a little prettier! Who wouldn’t want that?!

As weird as it sounds, right now, I want to learn welding. YES, that process of gluing metals, that welding. I was helping my dad search for garage door parts online but I thought that if I know how to weld I can fix it myself. Problem is, welding machines are so huge and we definitely do not have any space for that in the garage.
Upon searching on tutorials on youtube, I came across this video about the “smallest welding machine” just got to this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjPpQKkvjQU. It is a patented invention by a Filipino inventor and the machine is as big as a cucumber (where did that come from?). Anyhow, it is so portable that you can put it in your handbag. I showed it to my dad and even He was surprised. So right then we ordered a portable welding machine online. We postponed looking for the garage door parts first. We’ll try to fix it ourselves first.

For anyone interested in buying a printer, here are some tips to get you started.
First off, the brand. In general, good brands make good printers. However there are four best brands so you still have four options if you narrow your search using brands. Epson, HP, Canon, and Brother are some of the usual brands you will see for consumer level printers. For this, it is better to choose the brand with the best warranty. Printers often have a year warranty but some brands extend this to two years. This is a better deal since you will at least be sure that you will have a working printer for two years.
Second tip, the usage. Yep, even if they tell you that printers are multi purpose, some are more inclined to photos or text documents than others. Some printers have dye based inks, which are economic and relatively quick drying. These types of inks are best for text documents. Some on the other hand are pigment based. These inks are waterproof making them longer lasting, especially great for photos. Some still have the ribbon inks although these are only used for carbon receipts.
Third, the cartridge. The printers ink cartridges are one of the key things to consider when getting a printer. For document intensive usage, choose the printer with cheap cartriges. When I say cheap, I mean, cost to number of printed pages ratio. For photos, choose printers with separate color cartiges as this is more efficent.
There ya go. Just some tips to get you going on your printer shopping.

I finally got my iPhone! It took me months to wait for it and I was depressed because I was quite embarrassed to show my friends that I had a cheap phone because I switched telephone providers. I have quite a high position and I didn’t want to go through having to explain to my friends why my phone was cheap.
Thank god my brother was nice enough to help me get an iPhone. Most of the iPhones from my current provider are out of stock, and the only new ones that they have are the 4G ones. I wasn’t too happy to get a 4G, because I don’t think it’s worth the cost, but I guess that’s fine.
What made me even happier about getting an iPhone was the iphone insurance that came with it. I’ve been such a klutz since I was young, so this is something I actually look forward to.

Usually malls have security cameras installed. However, they usually have no benefit because they are usually of low resolution and are installed very high up in the ceiling. This has been an issue in the office because there has been many reports of lost items recently and the security cannot identify the culprits.
To solve this, new wireless cctv cameras
were installed. The new wireless system is amazing! Each camera can now be placed basically anywhere and the images are clear and crisp. Plus, because it streams the video wirelessly, monitoring can also be done wirelessly and remotely.
Now the office is more secure. Unfortunately, nothing could be done with the lost items. This will only serve a lesson to us that we must keep all our valuable stuff secured all the time.

I’ve been thinking about how innovative the world is right now. We have too many inventions that we never really thought we’d need, but we couldn’t live without now.
When I was young, I was quite fat, and all my friends teased me so. I swore to myself that I’d invent a kind of fat burner to help kids like me avoid this situation.
I guess being young also made me superficial and think that everything is so easy. The course that I took during my college life isn’t in any way related to robotics, so I guess someone else will have to fulfill that dream for me.

The iPhone may be the best looking phone in the market today, but it definitely is not the best in terms of security. I usually let my friends view photos from my phone but I do not want them messing around with my messages and emails. I have searched the itunes store for a good security app but I was not able to find exactly what I was looking for.
A friend of mine suggested a great security app for my iPhone but he said that it will only work for “Jailbroken” iPhones. Jailbreaking a series of procedures that will allow applications that are not registered to Apple, to run on the iPhone. These apps are usually free and are created by enthusiasts who usually use the apps for their own use. They can be downloaded in online backup sites provided by third party companies.
I am not really fond of hacking into licensed software because I too work in a software development company and I value intellectual property rights. Only this time, I was forced to jailbreak my phone because there are no licensed software that meets my security needs.
