Carwash your motherboad to make it work

Written on Sunday, 21 of June, 2009 at 9:31 am

I’m betting a hundred bucks you will not believe what I am going to tell you. My friend just revived his dead mother board using a pressure washer! In case you don’t know, pressure washers are the water sprayer used for carwashing. Anyhow, his mainboard was already out of warranty when it stopped working. Out of curiousness (or just plain stupidity) he thought that the board might just be dirty, so he sprayed it with water and soap. After rinsing it, he dried it thoroughly using pressurized air.

He allowed it to dry and connected it to the power supply unit. Then it actually worked! I thought he was making fun of me at first, until he showed the video of what he did. It is true. Doing some research, I found out that many people already did that. An engineer friend of mine told me that sometimes, even a speck of dust can cause a circuit to malfunction. So sometimes cleaning will work. Also he said that electronic parts are waterproof. For as long as the motherboard is completely dried up, the circuitry will work just the same. Anyhow, feel free to comment on this. Sarcastic remarks will gladly be accepted.
