botox - no longer just a cosmetic treatment

As I’ve mentioned in my earlier post, I have been having headaches with pulsating and recurring shots of pain in the back of my head for several days now. My cousin, Abigail, who’s currently taking up pre-med, ruled out migraine and tension headache and said it was due to eyestrain since I’ve been doing a movie marathon for several days. All I have to do is take a rest off the TV and I will get better.
Not convinced, I decided to do some research to differentiate eyestrain from migraine and tension headache. While reading over some definitions and cures, I was surprised to read an article about Botox for migraines. I have always associated Botox as a cosmetic treatment for wrinkles, but as treatment for migraine?!
Reading on, the article stated, “In studies, it has been found that 80 percent of migraine patients who underwent Botox injections experienced migraine relief for four to six months, suffering fewer and less intense migraines over that time period.” Hmmm… I ought to suggest it to my sister Anne who’s been having migraines a lot these days. As for me, I think my cousin was right, the headaches have minimized to almost nil since I decided to give the marathon a rest.
