Almost burned the house down

Written on Wednesday, 27 of January, 2010 at 9:06 pm

Today I had a fight with my younger sister because she almost burned the house down. Last night she charged her cellphone in the laundry area and left it there. Earlier, when I went there to stash my dirty clothes, it smelled like something was burning. I found out that it was her charger! It was almost about to blow because it was so hot. Fortunately, I got there in time before it burned the laundry room down (and eventually the whole house).

I told Mom about this and she confronted my sister. Chargers and electrical appliances which could generate heat should not be left plugged it unattended. Blow dryers, chargers and irons are among the common. You may think I am over reacting but hey, prevention is better.

Because of this incident, we became interested in getting an insurance for the house. I requested for a home insurance quote from a website offering insurance. Accidents can never be totally eliminated but most accidents could be prevented, so it is important to keep in mind some safety precautions at home.
