Doodling on my Computer

Written on Wednesday, 21 of September, 2011 at 2:57 pm

I’ve been starting to draw using SAI paint tool at the moment. My common technique would be to draw in between meetings, take a photo (because I don’t have a scanner) and trace the lineart using a line layer and a pen tool.

This isn’t always very convenient since I’d notice that the picture looks a little different from what I intended the drawing to look like after I trace it, so I am currently saving up to get a nice Tablet.

I made an art shop for this online game that I’m playing. Apparently people are willing to pay game currencies to get art for their in game characters, and this will help me a lot in upgrading my gear and buying all the potions that I need!

If you want to try my art, you can comment on what you want drawn in this post, and I’ll see if I can whip up something and if I’m not busy, I might even do it for free! I need practice, anyway.

Be prepared, not scared!

Written on Monday, 19 of September, 2011 at 4:20 am

There’s nothing better than being prepared. As the old and very famous saying goes, prevention is better than cure. And in the case of tornadoes and the like, I’m afraid I’m going to have to agree with the person who came up with those words of wisdom.

We don’t know what the future holds. One day, Japan gets a high magnitude earthquake, the next day, Singapore gets a tsunami. A lot of people ended up losing a lot of their assets and burying themselves in debts because they weren’t responsible enough to prepare for situations like that.

You know way back in the world war times when bomb shelters were common? I strongly recommend people to get tornado shelters so they know that they always have a backup plan.

Are there any tips that you would recommend a person preparing for these common disasters? I’d recommend keeping the fragile items inside the shelter to a minimum. As much as possible take away glass and ceramic items. They’re more trouble than they’re worth in times of disaster.

Make up, is it really that bad?

Written on Monday, 19 of September, 2011 at 3:20 am

I received my package in the mail! I found out that I got it yesterday when my mom sent me a text message. My friend Sasha from Pennsylvania sent me make up because I mentioned to her once that I never learned how to apply makeup to myself.

I’ve never been a big fan of that, I guess. In my elementary graduation, I was the only one who didn’t wear thick makeup, and I liked it that way. I still looked like my 12 year old self when I graduated, and everyone else looked different.

I know makeup is a way for people to enhance their facial features, but I guess it just doesn’t work out for most people, and I’m too afraid of that to happen to me. My boss wouldn’t let that happen, so she mailed me make up when she had the chance. I couldn’t say no. I am now required to experiment with my face during my free time.

Maybe I’ll take photos of it and post it here for funsies! What do you think?

Camping is fun!

Written on Sunday, 18 of September, 2011 at 9:17 am

Nothing makes a camp out epic like an outdoor firepit. I love those moments. When I was young (around five years old) and when my siblings and I went to the beach that our family had one summer. We found this firepit and decided to go and find things to roast by the fire. I ended up playing with candlewax and cringing everytime I touched a newly melted wax, then giggling and playing with the dried wax on my fingers afterwards.

I even begged my mom to get our new house one because I wanted to kidnap my siblings at night and roast marshmallows and smores by the fire. I’d pretend I was a girl scout and wear green clothes and prance around by the fire. My siblings would make shadow stories until I went to sleep.

I’d say those were the best years of my childhood.

Do you have interesting fire stories to share with us? Please do so in the comments section of this post!

Getting rid of molds

Written on Thursday, 1 of September, 2011 at 7:52 am

Yesterday I had to buy a catch all floor mat because the one in my room had so much molds in it. Molds have been a problem of mine since the rainy season came. So I did a little research on how to get rid of molds in the house. Here are some tips I got from the net:

  • Avoid mopping the floor with a wet mop. The damp floor just becomes a breeding ground for molds. Also when the water evaporates, it adds up to the humidity in the room.
  • Always dry the kitchen counter tops. For the same reason mentioned above, wet means molds.
  • Spray on bleach on always damp corners of the house. Molds are also plants. They die on bleach.
  • Take out any mold infested items. Molds propagate by pores so to prevent molds you have to get rid of the source.

So there, I am sure most of you already do this but hey, it is always good to be reminded.
