On the road to a debt free life

Written on Thursday, 26 of May, 2011 at 12:54 am

When I was a kid, I always heard mom and dad scream at each other, fighting about bills and other financial matters. It came to a point that my dad had a heart attack because of one of the fights. He survived, but my mother carried the burden of becoming the bread winner of the family.

Years passed, my dad fully recovered, yet he has his passion for work. He left us, probably because of guilt. I was 12 then and I did not know anything. It was probably good that he left though. My mom got a good paying job that allowed me to finish school. My mother was so proud when I graduated, she always believed that education can help me get rich.

Let me tell you something about how my life went after graduation. I found my first job. The pay was great at first. But then after a few months, my salary could not keep up with my expenses. It was just too little. And so I transferred to another company. Again good pay but only for a while. I always was short before the pay date. My only choice was to borrow money.

I had been in debt for two years now. I am so broke that I had to remove our address plaques to keep the postman away. Do not get me wrong. I have a job, but I guess it is just too expensive to live these days.

A couple of weeks ago, something made me realize that I had to do something about my life. A class reunion, made me realize that I am doing it all wrong… To be continued…

Is bigger always better?

Written on Wednesday, 25 of May, 2011 at 10:42 pm

I’ve done a little survey with my gal pals.

I asked them the question, “Is bigger always better when it comes to men and lovemaking?”.

It just randomly popped into my head, and when something unanswerable such as that comes into my head, I wouldn’t be able to sleep unless I get some sort of resolution.

As I asked most of my friends, the answers came down to one thing– that they lean more on the performance, and that the size is always a bonus.

So if I actually do have curious male readers out there, there’s still hope! If you’re not very keen on the performance, there’s always male enhancement products to make up for your lack in the performance department.

I believe my friends recommended this certain website called extenze side effects. Some of their partners tried the products there and it turned out to be very effective!

It just never ceases to amaze me, what technology can do these days.

Collecting coins – economic sabotage?

Written on Thursday, 19 of May, 2011 at 10:46 pm

Earlier, I attended an interesting symposium about hobbies and crafts. Among the hobbies that gave me the most interest were Bonsai gardening, Sushi making and Airbrushing T-shirts. There was also this one speaker who told something intriguing. His topic was collecting coins. His first line made all the audience quite hooked – “Collecting coins is economic sabotage”.

At first he showed a coin with a silver eagle. It looked like a large penny however he said that it costs eight hundred dollars. When he got all our attention, he expounded on what he said at first.

Collecting coins can be a form of economic sabotage, he said. In the Philippines, he reports, there was an investigation regarding people who collected certain coins and exported them to China. He was not talking about a hundred coins, he was talking about millions. Reports said that these coins contain good quality metal that can be used as raw material.

Coins are usually made at a higher cost than their actual value, so using them as raw material is like stealing from the government. I never realized that until earlier.

Oh well, the speaker was a good one, however I still find collecting coins as boring.

Surprise Visit

Written on Sunday, 15 of May, 2011 at 11:50 pm

Silly old me decided I would spend the weekend just lounging around in my bedroom because the weather outside was too hot.

Imagine this: My sister called me while I was in bed and invited to treat me outside the house with her sweet husband. I thanked her for the offer and politely refused because I really couldn’t muster up the strength to shower and get dressed.

I spent the entire afternoon taking random naps and randomly raiding the fridge whenever I get hungry. All of this was done while I was patiently waiting for my friends to come over.

Oddly enough, while I was just about to shower, my friends arrived– and with a surprise guest. One of them bought their mother with him! Imagine having to meet your friend’s mom for the first time with your hair all shiny and you smelling like the jungle. I was mortified but thank god, I survived.

We ended up talking about their family business- 5th wheel insurance. I smiled and nodded while cringing at the thought of how horrid I looked at the moment.

And the moral of the story is: Always shower. Seriously!

Back from camping

Written on Monday, 9 of May, 2011 at 8:23 am

I just came back from a camping trip with my friends. A couple of days ago, I was hesitant to go with them because I knew I will only get tired of the trip. You know, long walks, slippery creeks, hangover and lack of sleep. But then I was glad that they forced me into it. I had the most wonderful camping trip of my life.

Who would have thought that motorcycles can be used for mountaineering? Yep. Most people use 4×4′s but my gang brought their motorcycles. It made sense once we were on the mountain track. Narrow roads were accessible with a motorcycle and it does not take a lot of fuel. Plus it scares the wild beasts away. I was not even worried of getting lost because of the garmin zumo 220 motorcycle gps
installed on our bikes? How cool can that be? Now if only they could make a portable blow up toilet that has a flush in it then I would definitely be camping again.

Changes

Written on Monday, 2 of May, 2011 at 9:59 pm

I met a friend of mine and noticed how his body time was very similar to that of Thor’s leading man. (I’m not even kidding!) His muscles really were protruding– in a good way, of course.

What I don’t understand is how much he has changed. Back then he was tall and skinny, and out of nowhere he just suddenly gains weight and his body is no less than amazing? It’s confusing, really.

He told me that it took him years to find the best creatine to maximize his workout results. He tried about three brands before he settled down to one because the end results were impressive.

It wouldn’t hurt to help boost your self confidence, in my opinion. I noticed that ever since the big change my friend started having confidence in himself and the things he does– but not excessively, of course.

Best Friend

Written on Sunday, 1 of May, 2011 at 5:30 am

Earlier today my friend and I were arguing about a commercial we saw on tv. We ended up drifting off to various topics such as the best thrush treatment and what old people should do because they have too much free time.

Since I started working I haven’t been able to hang out with her much, and I can say I sure miss having these random discussions with her and just hanging out, not having to worry about things I need to accomplish by the end of the week.

No matter what anyone says, I believe my college years are the best years of my life. Back then my only worries would be if I get to pass my subjects and meet all the requirements that my professor demands. Now I have to worry about getting along well with my co-workers and not skipping a day of work because my salary gets deducted and I may lose my job.

I guess that’s still part of life, we all have to grow up at one point and accept that it’s the way things are.
