My internship

Written on Saturday, 30 of April, 2011 at 7:20 am

I suddenly remembered the days when I started my internship. My boss made me and my co-interns wear name tags because there were too many of us and they couldn’t memorize our names instantly.

I ended up wearing the name tag for just a day, and most of them were able to know us by name by the end of our first day.

It’s a good thing there only six interns. I believe teamwork and rapport would be hard to establish if there were, say, more than ten interns who just met and have to work on a project for one month. It would be easier if you knew each other’s pace and figured out how much you have to work on to be able to keep up with one another.

It’s not too easy working with people you just met, but it really depends on how flexible a person is. Being versatile is always a good thing and almost every job needs that.

Investing on insurance

Written on Monday, 25 of April, 2011 at 3:11 am

So here is yet another costly insurance that needs to be reviewed. On the hot seat is… drum roll… the disability insurance. Life Insurance are investments that only your loved ones can claim. However this disability insurance sort of makes sense. Imagine if you have a life insurance then you had an accident. An accident that made you lose your limbs. This disability insurance seems perfect right? Well not entirely.

Just like when you are buying your first family car, you always spend time on research to be able to get the perfect one. The same goes with insurance. You will probably be paying for that your whole life so better be ready to read a lot of documents for this. Personally, I am quite skeptical on the terms of disability insurance. …to be continued

The day of mourning

Written on Sunday, 24 of April, 2011 at 3:02 am

Today is a day of mourning for me… The time has come for me to accept reality…
My five year old Chucks have suffered irreversible damages and so…
Today I say goodbye to my good old friend. My black Chuck Taylor shoes that I will always love.

Oh well. It has served me well. Now I am off to the sneaker stores for yet again find a perfect pair of shoes that will suit my awesome personality.

I have always believed that good shoes will take you to the farthest places. And so I invest a lot on a special pair of shoes that I will intend to wear until the day I mourn again. Hmm… I wonder what styles are in these days… It has been a while since I last stepped foot in a shoe store. I wonder what challenges await me in choosing the best pair for my feet.

On Mother’s Day

Written on Saturday, 23 of April, 2011 at 3:18 am

These days, children are not that sweet with their parents. Well at least not as before.
During my time, I feel proud whenever Mom brings me to school. She cooks breakfast for me and packs my snack. She rides with the school bus and kisses be before we part. Today however, children tend to think that it is “uncool” to bring parents to school.

Perhaps it is because of the memes that TV programs are giving to the children. These days, TV programs portray children with no appreciation for their parents. This somehow programs the children’s subconscious mind.

I know all of us want to thank their parents. However most of us have a very hard time showing it. So I have the best solution – birthday flower delivery service!

There is no better gift than being surprised with fresh flowers. Of course, do not forget to write a simple letter telling your mom how much you love her.

Wedding Rings

Written on Monday, 11 of April, 2011 at 11:25 pm

There has always been something about jewelry that intimidates everyone. Ever since the dawn of man, accessories have been a vital part of our social lives.

Way back when formal politics were still out of the question, tattoos, clothing and jewelry were used to determine one’s rank and role in the tribe or country. Now it mostly symbolizes one’s social status and/or income.

It has been said that wedding rings determine how one’s marriage will go, that if you spent a lot of money on the ring, you’ll be sure to have a wonderful marriage without any form of hardship.

I beg to differ. That is not the case. There are people who spent millions on their wedding rings only to find that their husband cheated on them a few months after.

Wedding rings do not determine how the marriage will go, but it sure is one thing that would be the key to reminiscing the good old days, and it wouldn’t hurt to show it off to your friends, too! A friend of mine fancied scott kay rings, and I checked it out and fancied a few rings myself.

I’m definitely going to get one of those for my own.

Baby Steps

Written on Sunday, 10 of April, 2011 at 6:47 am

Before I graduated, there was a time when my academic performance stopped decreasing exponentially. I wasn’t proud of this time, it was the peak of my procrastinating days, and I chose to watch television series over reviewing for my final exams. However, I was proud of the fact that I passed all of my subjects during that time even though I was really not paying attention and being all grade conscious like my usual self.

During this time, my professor inspired me. I saw how his life was all organized and how accomplished he is. He’s amazing at both his favorite sport, ping pong, and lecturing us. I asked him what his secret for developing his ping pong skill was because I have always been frustrated at that sport and he told me that he bought the newgy ping pong robot and it did wonders from him.

I don’t really intend to be an amazing lecturer like him because I’m pretty sure the salary wouldn’t be enough for me, so I started working on my ping pong skills and took care of the rest after that got me going.

Baby steps. It’s like they always say.
