Our basement got flooded last 2008….it was heart breaking as we tried salvaging what was left from our old stuff. Old textbooks in grade school to high school with our own notes, Decades old books kept by my mom, my mom’s wedding dress, my dad’s plaques, basically years of tangible sentimental stuff. It was hard picking out most of the stuff that we can save, but it was more hard to let go of the thing s we couldn’t. My mom who was tired was sobbing all over the place.
The flood was unexpected because it was something about our water pipes that did it and not some natural occurrence. It apparently went on during the night while we were in our deepest slumbers. The next morning my cousin who was staying over for a week… went down to get a book to read, that was basically how we all found out about it. It was too late.
At least no one got hurt, if by any chance someone decided to sleep there last night (like me, I like sleeping there every now and then) something bad might have happened. Out of all the sadness at least we had one thing to be happy about: we were all okay and together.

Today I had a fight with my younger sister because she almost burned the house down. Last night she charged her cellphone in the laundry area and left it there. Earlier, when I went there to stash my dirty clothes, it smelled like something was burning. I found out that it was her charger! It was almost about to blow because it was so hot. Fortunately, I got there in time before it burned the laundry room down (and eventually the whole house).
I told Mom about this and she confronted my sister. Chargers and electrical appliances which could generate heat should not be left plugged it unattended. Blow dryers, chargers and irons are among the common. You may think I am over reacting but hey, prevention is better.
Because of this incident, we became interested in getting an insurance for the house. I requested for a home insurance quote from a website offering insurance. Accidents can never be totally eliminated but most accidents could be prevented, so it is important to keep in mind some safety precautions at home.

Tea time in the family is the time to discuss and share our lives to close relatives. We always held every third Sunday of the month in our house. Besides having Tea this Sunday Anne prepared Fettucini Alfredo with Sergey. While they were cooking, I decided to ask my uncle if they were able to get their insurance quote from the insurance company. Their car got into a serious accident two weeks ago. Luckily, it was still on insurance at the very least they can have the whole car fixed or even get a new one.
The whole afternoon was spent talking about car safety. I have been in 2 car accidents last year. Both are not my fault. One was even a day after my birthday. I didn’t get any serious injuries but it makes you realize that life is as easy as two fingers snapping. Always fleeting and always changing.
It was good that no one got hurt, not even a scratch from that accident although it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

I have been wondering why, at my mid-20s, I’m still having recurring back acne every now and then. I’ve often pinpointed stress as the main culprit to it, but then, lately, even though I’ve been getting enough rest, my back acne just keep getting worse.
Normally, this doesn’t bother me. However, my sister’s wedding is just a month away, and I need to find a way to have my usual flawless back in time for the wedding. I’m wearing a haltered dress after all. So I finally decided to consult my dermatologist to get the best acne treatment. Her first question after I recounted my problem was, “What shampoo and conditioner are you using right now?” I was stunned, “Huh?!” She laughed and said that more often than not, shampoos and conditioners are the main cause of back acne. This is because shampoo and conditioner is something most of us use on a daily basis and does not only come into contact with our hair, but also our skin.
Having considered that, I did notice that I do get back acne whenever I switch to a certain brand of shampoo and conditioner! *Whew!* So that’s it! I just need to be more careful in selecting my shampoo.

My friend Mikky decided to sleep early the night we partied in my apartment. She was taking an ephedra diet pill and to help her not to eat more she decided to sleep early because I made some devilishly delicious food for the party.
Sergey, Kurt, and Leo were there making jokes and keeping guests entertained. Migi and Carlo Dj-ed for the night, while I continuously create food whenever it looked scarce.
It was already 4 in the morning when Sergey and my sister started talking. Everyone was drunk, half were passed out. Since Sergey and my sister don’t drink except for red wine which I didn’t serve, other than me, they were the last sane people at the party. Anyway, I decided to leave the two lovebirds alone. When I woke up, I saw them cuddling each other. Apparently, the rest of the guests saw them cuddling as well and were laughingly gawking at them. Turns out that they were both huggers when they sleep.
So next time, to keep our friends from making fun of them in the next three months, they decided to talk with pillows between them.

Nowadays, the odds of you being able to eat a wide variety of food, including fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes is almost zero. This is why pregnant women, especially those in the early stages, need prenatal vitamins to supplement their food intake. After all, you and your growing baby need sufficient amount of vitamins to develop properly, which you apparently are not getting in your everyday meal.
Although there are many prenatal vitamins, majority of them contain three essential vitamins and minerals: Folic acid, Iron and Calcium. In fact, it is best that you start supplementing as soon as you decide to conceive. This is because, “Repeated studies show that women who take 400 micrograms of folic acid daily prior to conception will reduce the risk of their baby being born with a serious neural tube defect, like spina bifida, encephalocele, and anecephaly. Both of these defects occur during the first 28 days of pregnancy- well before a woman discovers she is even pregnant.”
In general, it is very important for all women of childbearing age to get enough folic acid in their diet to help them overcome the nutritional deficiencies in their diet and ensure having a healthy baby.

I have been having problems with my eye bags for the longest time now. Frankly, I’m one of those who were born with huge eye bags. I’m not complaining since it looks good on me. 0;) My problem right now is the dark circles forming around my eyes due to lack of sleep – no thanks to the hectic project deadlines this January.
I have tried using eye creams but they just aren’t living up to their promised results. So up to now, I’m in search for the best eye cream. My friend recommended The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Eye Cream. Considering that there IS significant improvement on her eyes, I’m thinking of trying it out as well. If there’s anyone who would like to recommend an effective eye cream, please feel free to comment on this post.

For two years I had been working as a web designer for the same company. I worked on at least three websites a month so I think you could already imagine how geeky I am. The thing is, I think I forgot about the other things I have learned in college. Subjects like Cisco networking, Basic Electronics and Geometry are just some of the things I already forgot. It just proves that the mind also needs exercise. It only remembers the things important to daily activities. Come to think of it, if this goes on, I might end up an expert web designer without knowledge on other important things.
My supervisor always suggests that I learn other things which are not related to work. Things like martial arts, yoga, baking, or even sports. I am not really into that stuff but I would also want to try software programming and SEO. But studying can be a big hassle for employed people so I decided to take an online degree. With this I can study in the most convenient time for me.
Learning is a continuous process and we should not keep our mind stagnant. Again, the brain needs exercise too so to keep the good ideas flowing; we must try to study different things other than our work.

It is sad that we do not see much of the migrating birds nowadays. When I was a child, my parents always take me to the riverside to watch the migratory birds feed on the fishes. It was an amazing view. We come in that place very early in the morning, when the fog still covers the water. But now, the river is already polluted and much of the riverside is has been commercialized. It’s unfortunate that the new generation will not be able to see that amazing view…
Earlier, I got a chance to talk with a good old friend of mine from Florida. He was asking me to do some research regarding Avalon zoos. I was told that a Nocatee businessman named richard willich will be converting the wet lands to a bird park! This is really amazing. My friend works in advertising, so I guess the research he asked for will be used for that purpose.
I did a little research about bird parks and I found an article that mentioned Richard Willich being one of the biggest donors of the bird park in Florida. So I guess this businessman does not intend to build the park just for money. Maybe he wants the future generation to see the great egrets in action in their own habitat. In my own opinion, what this guy is creating is a bird paradise that will be appreciated by the future generations.

Finally, after three months of drooling, I finally got myself the coolest netbook today – the MSI U210. This baby is so amazing, it’s even better than my full fledged laptop. It has a dual core AMD processor and an impressive ATI graphics card! It can even play a 1080p video with little effort! Haha. You really cannot blame me for bragging. I bought this notebook for my work as a web developer and for watching HD movies. Sometimes clients want to see you in action, so this 12 incher is best for the job. Of course, I have an antivirus installed so to protect my precious data from malicious programs like spyware and viruses.
The thing about some antivirus programs is they are very resource hungry! I still remember when I got my first licensed antivirus. It was made by S*mant*c and it claimed to be the most powerful antivirus available. I was overwhelmed by the good advertisements so I purchased it and installed it in my laptop. After installation, I noticed that my PC slowed down significantly. It came to the point that I could not load Photoshop anymore because that crappy antivirus is eating all the resources in my PC!
I consulted a friend of mine about that and he recommended a brand new antivirus software that offers full protection from spyware, malware, virus, worms, and even email-borne threats. I got it online and one nice thing about it is it does not automatically charge your credit card for renewal. This antivirus uses advanced anti-rootkit technology which is not available from the old antivirus I had been using. And the best thing about it is… it does not slow down your PC! It is the ideal antivirus for netbooks and PC’s with little processing power. This is the antivirus I use at home and at the office. So far it has proven to be worthy to claim that is has a “Cutting-edge Proactive Protection”.
Anyhow, I can’t wait to try out some games on this netbook. I have already tried DOTA and Borderlands and it seemed to respond well.
