Pet Party

Written on Sunday, 24 of May, 2009 at 5:54 am

I’ve always been a cat lover but since we moved to a new house my sister brought our first pet which was a dog. So I didn’t bother getting myself a cat. But Terry my friend Mia’s pet cat was my favorite even called myself as Terry’s aunt. She was going to celebrate her birthday on Tuesday so I decided to get her some cat supplies for her birthday. Mia even decided to invite her closest friends for Terry’s birthday party. It’s going to be my first time attending a pet birthday party. I sure hope Mia won’t be serving Cat food for her guests.

You must try footsal!

Written on Tuesday, 19 of May, 2009 at 9:09 pm

Yesterday we held our quarterly team building activity in our company. This time was different because instead of going to the beach, we went to a footsal stadium on top of a hotel building. By the way, footsal is a Japanese adaptation of soccer. The rules are the same, but the playing field is indoors and is much smaller than the actual soccer field.

We enjoyed the competition especially because it was our only chance of kicking our boss’s arse. Our team won second place and the manager’s team won the 3rd place. The champions who got the soccer trophies were (of course) the utility and maintenance crew, obviously because these guys are bullies. Anyhow, the activity was fun and exciting. It was also a good workout for us webbies who have zero exercise.

Cool playstation 3 video games

Written on Friday, 15 of May, 2009 at 5:02 pm

Being a PlayStation 2 addict, my colleague, Stephen recently bought its latest version, Playstation 3 at Circuit City. As of the moment, he’s into collecting PS3 Video Games.

With his upcoming birthday, his wish list includes a lot of PS3 games like Need for Speed (his all time favorite street racing), NBA Live 2009 (even I was surprised that there’s already a version 2009), World Series of Poker 2008 (will definitely help improve your poker skills in real life), and of course, Call of Duty: World at War (for those who’s into combat, the military, and hand-to-hand fight, this is a must have).

I checked the prices of the PS3 Video Games online and they are all reasonable. I think I’ll get him the Need for Speed so I can borrow it as well. Hehehe.

Notebook or Desktop?

Written on Friday, 15 of May, 2009 at 2:26 am

Notebook or desktop? That is the question. While a pc salesperson will abruptly say “notebook”, the obvious answer still is… “it depends”. Each kind of PC has its pro’s and con’s of course. And yes… there won’t come a day when desktops will be phased out by notebook computer.

Here are some clear comparison between the two of them:

Portability. Notebooks obviously win in this area, and I need not explain why.
Reliability. Desktops win this round. Why? Well… ever heard of Microsoft using laptops as database servers? Hehe. Seriously, desktops are usually built in aluminum casings which make them less prone to heat damage, unlike laptops which are made of plastic. Also, notebooks can easily be dropped, spilled upon, and even stepped on.

Power. Because desktops have the ease to be built on such large casings, there is no need for manufacturers to make the components smaller, compromising some processing power. Also, power hungry processors need more… well… power. This is why desktop power supply are at least 500 watts whereas laptops only have typically 100 watts.
Budget friendly. This is relative of course, but in general, desktops are cheaper.

So those are some of the obvious differences between the two. So to choose between them will just depend on the type of user and the kind of application that will be used with it.

Action figures – on transformers and gundams

Written on Sunday, 10 of May, 2009 at 10:42 pm

I heard Elvis talking to Harry about wanting to buy a Hasbro Transformers Movie Leader Megatron toy with Advance See armor slide and enhanced vehicle-to-robot conversion. I informed him that my friend JC, who’s an action figure addict and is currently on tour in one of those Vegas vacations, could perhaps help him select the best action figures with superior quality and advance technology.

With this, they have been in constant communication about buying action figures. Right now, they shifted from Transformers to Gundam. On Elvis’ top action figures to buy list is the Bandai Gundam Mg Xxxg 01W Wing Gundam Ver. Ka Scale 1/100. I think JC’s planning to give it to Elvis as a birthday present.

I told JC to also buy me a Sharper Image Beatmix Bumblebee Speaker For Ipod and MP3 or a Kingdom Hearts formation Arts Figure Set of 3 should he decide to buy Elvis the Gundam. That way, the shipping will be cheaper.

Exercise is still the way to go

Written on Saturday, 9 of May, 2009 at 9:07 pm

It’s been 3 months since I started that oatmeal breakfast habit and it’s doing quite nicely to my body. I feel much lighter and I don’t feel that bloated feeling anymore. My heartburn attacks have also disappeared completely. So I think I achieved some of my goals in doing this except one… to lose weight.

When I started I quickly lost weight, about 2 pounds in the first 2 weeks. But later on, I regained my weight because I had a better appetite. It seems that oatmeal really has that cleansing effect in the body and it regulates your digestion, hence you absorb nutrients better. And so I again gained weight.

And so…I enrolled myself to a gym, did some aerobics, and continued the oatmeal breakfast. Now I’m losing weight faster and I could see my tummy slimming down. So I guess the combination of oatmeal and exercise is a very effective way to lose weight. Better than even the best weight loss supplement available.
