I just received news that a friend of mine, Ron, had a motorcycle accident last Friday. I rushed to the hospital as soon as I heard. Fortunately, he just sustained minor cuts and a bruised ribcage. I was able to talk to him and he said that he was on his way home when a delivery truck slammed on his side and pushed him off the road. Good thing he was well protected with a certified helmet.
As for the truck driver, it turned out that he was over-speeding and lacked appropriate training and certification from a truck driving school.
Motorcycles are very dangerous to drive especially at night. Because they are small, car drivers sometimes do not see them instantly. Here are some tips I want to share to all you motorcycle drivers out there:
- Always wear a certified helmet. Never use helmets which are of poor quality because it will just be the same as not wearing a helmet at all.
- Wear bright-colored or reflective outfit so that you can be easily seen by other drivers. You can even add reflective stickers to your helmet.
- Add more signal lights to your motorbike. Flashing brake lights are recommended.
- Finally, always drive responsibly and defensively. It is very easy to be carried away with excitement when riding a motorbike.
I hope you learned a little from what my friend had experienced. In accidents like this, it won’t matter who has the right of way. The one who sustains injuries will always be the loser. So always be cautious and careful when driving. You’ll never know when something like a truck might hit you.

Turbos and supercharger, ever heard of those things before? Well, a salesman offered products to me a while ago in the mall. He said that it can greatly improve my car’s performance, so I let him discuss his product. It turned out I know nothing about my car’s engine. Ha-ha.
In a nutshell, the car’s engine is a system of valves and pistons driven by pressure from combustion of air and gasoline. The supercharger allows the engine to output more power efficiently by pumping more air into the engine. When there is a good ratio of oxygen and gasoline inside the engine, more pressure is produced, therefore more horsepower for the engine.
I haven’t personally tried it yet, but the theory makes real sense. Making the engine work efficiently will probably improve its performance. When I have extra cash I’ll give it a try.

Last week I was busy doing work when I got an “add contact” invitation in skype. It said: “I am a Chinese girl hoping to have you as my English friend”. I did not see anything wrong with it so I added her in my contacts list. We had a chat. She introduced herself and asked about me. I couldn’t believe that she was for real and that she randomly picked my name in the search results. I thought at first that she was just one of my office mates doing some prank on me so I asked her to call me up. And she actually did! I heard her voice, she was speaking English yet she really had this Chinese accent like Jacky Chan.
We had an interesting chat. She taught me some Chinese words and in turn I corrected some of her wrong grammar. She even sent me some of her pictures in china. It looked so interesting. Buildings and digital signage in every corner. I haven’t seen any picture of china that lively.
I was glad to have a new friend, especially a stranger from the other side of the globe. I hope to have more friends abroad to learn about their lives and cultures. I’m planning to try doing random search in skype too and see if I can meet someone. Wish me luck.

My brother was making a huge fuss over his car’s parking space since my dad bought a Mazda 3 last week and declared that the prime parking space with cover at our house will now be only for the Mazda. To solve that problem, I showed my brother a magazine about carports.
After browsing over the magazine and even visiting an online carports store for more selection, he’s back to his old everything’s-fine-and-dandy self. In fact, he’s so enthused with what he saw that he’s planning to use his next paycheck to purchase one. Well, what do you know…

One of my sister’s problems when she stays at her college dorm for a week is packing up her laundry. “Where do I put them?!” is her constant dilemma. She usually brings an extra bag for her dirty clothes, but it just doesn’t feel right…
Then, on my way to a holiday trip, I saw my friend Jehan dragging effortlessly a nice-looking, portable caddy-bag, which turns out to be a laundry hamper on 4-inch wheels! How cool can you get? To cap it off, I later found out that it is water resistant and has a large storage capacity.
Christmas checklist for Ruth checked! One portable laundry hamper, coming up. ^_^

Have you heard of Leptovox? I hear that it’s a pretty good product. If you don’t know what it is, it is one of the many diet pills available today.
If you’re wondering why I’m actually talking about nothing but diet pills, it’s because most of my friends are looking for diet pills, and I have nothing to recommend them, ’cause, well, I don’t need any.
I’ve been surfing the net for the perfect diet pill to recommend them, and I still don’t have any ideas. This is where you get to comment about the product that I posted about if you have experiences regarding this pill.

Right after graduation, one of my goals was to save enough money to be able to go on an Asian Cruise. It’s been four years and I haven’t saved a single cent for that dream vacation. While absentmindedly surfing the net, I came across a blog which contains articles like the “Three Cheapest Asian Cities for Shopaholics” and “5 Weirdest Things You Can Do With Your GPS”. This triggered my almost forgotten yearning for an Asian Cruise.
Sigh. I really ought to start saving up money for the cruise so that I’ll stop drooling over articles and pictures like those. If only I could find someone to tag along with me… the trip would be more interesting. Hey wait a minute, I did find someone to go with me! My Nth level friend. ^_^ Very exciting!

My sister has been thinking about upgrading her old, crappy laptop. I am not insulting it in any way, that’s what she called her laptop herself. Haha! She said she thinks she needs to buy a new memory card. Does anyone out there have memory cards to recommend, feel free to comment on this blog post. She would most probably read this everyday to check out your recommendations. She’s pretty new in the computer world, anyway.
