one laptop each - wohoo!

Writing by on Monday, 30 of June, 2008 at 3:27 am

A few months ago, we made a request (demand) to our dear CEO about giving each of us a laptop. After much explanation and debate, the management gave in to our request *yay*. We finally convinced them to give us what we need. They’ll give us our laptops at last! *teary-eyes* Anyhow, I have a week to choose a laptop I prefer.

Just a tip to you guys when choosing a laptop, “always know the reason why you need one first”. This will be the basis on which laptop you will choose. This will determine the budget you’re willing to spend, the screen size and specs you’re going to choose, and the weight you’re going to carry.

Well, for a web developer like me, I’ll probably get one with a bright clear screen (about 14 inches), a fast dual core processor, and a high laptop memory (at least 2 gigabytes). A high laptop memory will maximize the speed of the processor, significantly increasing the overall system performance especially when working on multiple windows. Also, a large capacity hard drive would be recommended especially if you have a large collection of mp3’s and videos like I have.

I hope the 14” laptop is within the company budget. Wish me luck guys! Haha. ^_^

house party!

Writing by on Friday, 27 of June, 2008 at 1:12 am

Lately, I have been so busy with work that I haven’t had time to go out with my friends. I already miss them so much. Last night, Mark (one of my friends) called me and said that he had set up a “get together” party with our friends this Saturday night – in my place! And that they’ll even stay overnight! *panic* My apartment is a total mess! I need to clean up! I’m very conscious when it comes to friends staying at my place. I usually don’t get them to stay here, ya know.

I especially make sure that the kitchen and the bathroom are squeaky clean. Good thing I just had my bathroom renovated and now it has a stylish faucet installed (bragging rights). As for the bedroom, just need to vacuum a little (…and a little more). Now if only I could only find some new bed sheets… hmmm… and oh! Almost forgot to hide those undies behind the door! *whew!*

Huhh… I’m exhausted but I’m glad I’ll see my friends again. And oh, Mark! You better bring lots of booze and kebabs or else I won’t let you use the xbox!

June Weddings

Writing by on Thursday, 26 of June, 2008 at 3:10 pm

It’s the month where most weddings happen in the year! They say that June is the best month in the year to get married. Do you ever wonder why? I’ve read in a book that it’s the month where the Romans pay reverence to Juno, the goddess of marriage so they claimed that marrying in June would be lucky since you might have a chance of Juno giving you a blessing of some sort.

I’ve been invited to a lot of weddings as a bridesmaid, and I can say that finding bridesmaid gifts to give to the bride is pretty hard, so if you have any to recommend, please feel free to comment!

on tangible July dreams

Writing by on Wednesday, 25 of June, 2008 at 7:52 pm

My brother, Pleni (his girlfriend), and I will be attending our friend’s wedding in Samal, Davao, a beautiful island in the Philippines, this July 18. At the same time, my friend Mark and I will be enrolling in Kendo on July 5.

I have been dreaming of going to Davao with friends, and enrolling in Kendo with someone like Mark… But with all the expenses in just one month, making those dreams come true will require thorough budgeting and planning. Then again, if there’s a will, there’s a way…

Oh, and I’m also expecting a huge chunk of cash from someone who borrowed from me last February. If it will materialize this July, then I’m all set for Davao and Kendo! ^_^

More About Traveling

Writing by on Wednesday, 25 of June, 2008 at 8:05 am

I’m a person who loves to travel. I have always been fond of visiting various places in and out of the country. Every week I have a new area that interests me, that’s why I have a long checklist of places to visit. Since this week, I am interested in North Carolina, I’ve googled various companies that could provide good vacation rentals and I found Outer Banks to fit my expectations.

I’ve read that it’s one of the best out there in the market, and I can say I’m pretty impressed. Comments regarding this topic would be appreciated, especially if you have any other companies to recommend or places in North Carolina I should visit when I go there.

Travelling And Its Risks

Writing by on Tuesday, 17 of June, 2008 at 4:12 pm

If you love traveling as much I do, you should also considering travel health insurance to make sure that you don’t end up with an accident and wake up hours later in the hospital discovering that you’re in another country with no money, or something worse than that.
You should always think of the worst scenario that could possibly happen to you and make sure that you’re ready for it. That’s what my mom always taught me since I was little, and it has helped me a lot ‘till now and it’s probably one of the reasons I’m sharing this thought to you, so that it can help you as much as it did to me.

Golf Madness

Writing by on Monday, 16 of June, 2008 at 4:09 pm

Whether you’re old or young, golf is still one of the best sports to get involved with. You can always play this sport with your friends or with your colleagues. Some even play golf with their potential clients! This is a good way to socialize, while under the sunshine.
There are a lot of golf bags in the market nowadays. Please consider your caddies—if you have any, in buying these bags ‘cause they’ll be the ones carrying your gear as long as you’re in the golf course and playing golf. There are also electric caddies in the market, so check these out if you’re interested!

Gear For Your Vanity

Writing by on Sunday, 15 of June, 2008 at 6:52 pm

I can say that I love pictures and that I am pretty much a vain person. Well, humans are naturally vain! And no one can’t deny that. Whether it’s for your phone or for your digital camera, micro sd is still one of the best manufacturers of memory cards for me. They’re the smallest and most flexible memory cards out there in the market.

Try it yourself and you’ll see that I don’t make these things up. Any comments or suggestions regarding the topic are appreciated. Feel free to react violently—it’s up to you. Haha!Thank you very much!

Safety Tip for the Day

Writing by on Sunday, 15 of June, 2008 at 3:52 pm

Last summer, we went to Baguio and went to Wright Park. My sisters and I rode the horses like crazy! Actually, we got tired after twenty minutes of bouncing but we still rode and had fun. Well, you don’t really get to visit Baguio City everyday, do you? Haha.

Safety tip for the day: When horseback riding, remember to check if the saddles are actually locked tight and safe ‘cause you might end up in an accident that’s uncalled for. That wouldn’t be nice to see.

So always remember to take care of yourself and your loved ones too!

Birthdays

Writing by on Thursday, 12 of June, 2008 at 9:48 am

We all know that one’s birthday is a special day. Others love to make a big fuss of it, with parties and booze and all that stuff. Others hate it when they get greeted or sang to by friends and family. I, for one, love celebrating it with my family and friends. I give out birthday invitations if it’s a party or if I get too lazy, I just text people, or invite them personally.

Don’t forget to invite ALL of your friends, ‘cause if you don’t they’ll most probably think that you don’t like them that much, or that you have some issues or there’s a problem with your friendship, so invite everyone and ask those you invited to invite others too. If you don’t have much budget, then try not to announce it in public so others wouldn’t get offended if they didn’t get invited.
