on unforseen expenses and loans

Writing by wisteria on Monday, 30 of July, 2007 at 3:00 am

With the increasing growth of lending industry, it’s fascinating to know that you can now avail different types of loan depending on your needs – from personal loans to secured loans, the market offers it all. What’s great about this is that some lending companies provide an instant personal loan which can cover bills like car repair fees and medical bills. So people in dire need of instant cash due to unforeseen expenses don’t need to eat their brains out trying to cough up dough.

Oh, and I recently learned that your house can actually be your most important asset aside from providing shelter. This is because you can use it as equity to solve some of your cash problems. In fact, in countries like UK you can avail of a secured home loan.

Before applying for a loan, make sure to go over all types of loan and check that the lender is an established company that can provide you with quality service.

almost in Spain

Writing by wisteria on Sunday, 29 of July, 2007 at 10:44 am

Five years ago, my parents were included as part of our country’s delegation to attend an international conference in Spain. They saved money for this activity, and were granted visa. However, the nature of their work prevented them from savoring the Spanish cuisine, visiting the tourist attractions in Spain such as Béjar and Ronda, and spending a leisure time in a Hotel in Barcelona.

Recently, my mom was informed that another international conference in Spain for their group is being finalized. Thus, this early, my mom is getting organized for this event by using travelogues to reach more destinations. Since Madrid Accommodation will not be included in the conference, I told her to avail of Cheap Hotels in Madrid so she can bring home a lot of souvenirs for us.

a week in melbourne

Writing by wisteria on Sunday, 29 of July, 2007 at 10:25 am

A total of 40 Asian students were invited to join the educational tour in Australia as part of their curriculum. Everything had been arranged from visa to transportation, including the Melbourne Accommodation. My mom considers herself lucky to be one of the students in the tour because she didn’t have to spend a cent. In fact, they were even given extra money for their allowance.

Some of her companions requested to bring their family with them. These were the well-to-do who can afford to pay the extra expense of bringing other people to the tour (they also have to pay for their companions’ Accomodation in Melbourne of course). When my mom saw them as a family going to places in Melbourne, she couldn’t help but regret not bringing us, her family, with her.

Given another opportunity to visit Melbourne, even with her small savings, my mom promised to see to it that she’ll bring us with her for a vacation since traveling is better enjoyed with your loved ones. To cut down on the expense, she said we’ll avail of cheap hotels in Melbourne. That way, we we’ll have more money to spend on sight-seeing and on other activities in the area.

on labels and printing

Writing by wisteria on Sunday, 29 of July, 2007 at 3:55 am

Being an obsessive-compulsive, I always make sure that all my belongings are properly labeled. Consequently, I was ecstatic when I encountered PlanetLabel.com.

This online retailer specializes in laser, inkjet, and preprinted labels. Some of which include brown kraft labels and waterproof inkjet labels. What I like best about them is their unique inkjet label product - the translucent label. It has a “frosted” look to it when applied to glass, and has a clear matted look when applied on color.

They also offer white labels that have special types of adhesive such as the ultra repositionable adhesive. Labels made with ultra repositionable adhesive permits the product to be removed and reapplied on a surface without tearing the label.

Browsing over their website, I was amazed to find out that their pre-printed labels are categorized into three categories: indoor, outdoor and full color printing. Indoor comprise of labels they print with the use of different types of paper stocks, from white to yellow gloss, and fluorescent colors to silver foil. Outdoor comprise of labels that can be printed on your choice of white or yellow vinyl, clear polyester or silver or gold mylar. On the other hand, Full Color process color labels by using the full spectrum of colors, which produces labels that equal photographs. Labels in this category can be paper or vinyl, and are laminated for extra durability and shine. Amazing, isn’t it?

on cocktails & mixed drinks

Writing by wisteria on Sunday, 29 of July, 2007 at 3:07 am

I am a social drinker and I am a huge cocktail fan. I usually order mixed drinks like margarita, kahlua, and pina colada when I’m out with my friends.

Every now and then, when I’m in the mood and I have the money, I try some other mixed drink recipes. The simplest one I’ve come across with that I really like, as of the moment, is the gin-Kool-Aid. It’s a mixture of gin and strawberry kool-aid that generally tastes like strawberry juice, with a hint of alcohol. So far, all my friends who have tried it loved the mixed drink. In fact, we often use a shot of gin-Kool-Aid in our card drinking games like 1-2-3 Pass and Bullshit. That is, the loser has to take a shot of the mixed drink.

If you know any cocktail or mixed drink recipe that is worth trying, please feel free to post it in the comment box. Thanks!

on IT and environmental health & safety

Writing by wisteria on Sunday, 29 of July, 2007 at 12:47 am

Although the constant upgrade in our technology makes our life easier, let’s not forget to consider its effects in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).

Nowadays, being high-tech or modern does not necessarily mean you will not be at par with some EHS issues. With products and services like EHS Compliance Software and Environmental Data Solutions Group’s (ESDG) Remediation Practice, the gap between EHS professionals and IT can be filled. That is, those services helps large businesses stay in compliance with government regulations about the environment by designing and integrating information technology innovations to optimize environmental, health and safety performance.

So the next time someone says environmental health and safety does not mix with technological advancements, inform them about services like ESDG’s.

on buying costumes

Writing by wisteria on Saturday, 28 of July, 2007 at 11:44 pm

It’s never too early to start hunting for Halloween costumes and decorations. In fact, the earlier you start buying Halloween decorations and accessories, the better because you’ll be able to get them at a much cheaper rate.

Halloween costumes for toddlers, to adults, to even pets are available online. They range from the classic angel and fairy tale costumes, to the modern Lord of the Rings and famous movie stars costumes.

When buying a costume, do keep in mind that it is always better to buy one that will not be easily outdated, and can last for more than the usual one-time wearing. This will not only save you money, but also save you time from the hassle of searching for another costume. After all, you never know when a costume party might arise.

more than just a taskbar clock

Writing by wisteria on Saturday, 28 of July, 2007 at 10:05 am

Bored with your taskbar? Ever wished you could do more with your taskbar time display?

Well then, try installing Say the Time. This program will really spice up your taskbar and help you get organized – the fun and easy way! I recently downloaded Say the Time and, being obsessive-compulsive, I was ecstatic to avail of its very fun and easy-to-use features.

Not only will you enjoy its spoken date and time announcements (which you get to specify the time period of recurring announcement), you also get to create fully-customizable appointment reminders, and see a pop up of a month-view calendar that even displays week numbers. Moreover, it provides a countdown clock or stopwatch and allows you to view the time in various places around the globe. To cap it off, you get to customize your taskbar clock with your own textures, colors, and fonts, and manage ideas and information with colorful virtual sticky notes.

With Say the Time, your old taskbar clock will be more than just a clock.

Oh, and it is windows compatible (For Windows Vista, XP, 2000, Me, 98) and will not uninstall other programs or add any non-Say the Time programs or files to your computer. If you’re still hesitant about installing the program, you can always avail of their free 30-day trial alarm clock download first.

sweets - always in fashion

Writing by wisteria on Saturday, 28 of July, 2007 at 8:15 am

I know candies and chocolates have always been, and will always be a fad. As long as there are celebrations like birthdays and weddings, party favors with candies or candy bars will never cease to exist.

However, I wasn’t aware until now that the fad for sweets came to the extent of people actually buying and selling personalized candy bars and even customized candy bar wrappers. Imagine that! Then again, having a mouthwatering, Belgian milk chocolate in a hand-designed wrapper is a fantastic give away for any occasion, especially since candies and chocolates are always in fashion. So, why not have them personalized? 0;)
